Musician Community Enlivens Gubernatorial Election at Taman Suropati

The Gubernatorial Election at Taman Suropati, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (2/15) is enlivened with musical performance from Keroncong Batavia Mood which is a sub-community of Taman Suropati Chamber.

This is different from others, more comfortable. It makes voting not boring and tense. 

Based on Beritajakarta.com's observation, folk songs from Indonesian legendary composer were played in keroncong music such as Jembatan Merah, Bengawan Solo, Getuk, Sepasang Bola Mata, Nyiur Hijau, Rayuan Pulau Kelapa, and Juwita Malam.

Music performers looked professional playing various type of music instruments such as violin, flute, guitar, bass, cuk, cak, and cello. This musical performance attract visitors and local people attention who want to vote at TPS 18 and TPS 19.

Triana (42), a Menteng citizen, admitted that she was happy and comfortable listening folk song which played by this musician community that established since 2008. She thought the music can make visitors and local people comfortable and united in peaceful democratic party.

Tommy (32), who live on Jl. Proklamasi, also shared the same ideas. He felt not tense to take a part on voting at TPS. 

"This is different from others, more comfortable. It makes voting not boring and tense. Comfortable really is the most important thing. The atmosphere of Jakarta is keenly felt, and there is ondel-ondel too. Suitable to the environment, cool," he said.

Taman Suropati Chamber founder, Ages Dwiharso, said that the song performed mostly created by Gesang, Ismail Marzuki,  Budiman BJ, and Ismanto.

Besides performing folk songs, his community also played their own song. People who wants to sing also could take a part.

"We want to cool the atmosphere, and lyric in keroncong music is polite, even there are critical lyric in there but it sung softly. The most important thing is it raised the culture values," he expressed.

Menteng Sub-district Head, Paris Limbong added that musician community training routinely at Taman Suropati and intentionally involved to create a pleased democratic party situation.

"We creating a cool atmosphere so people who come to vote will be cool too. We enliven this democratic party," he closed.
